Driving instructors warned

the local authority.
Council spokesperson Mr Leslie Gwindi said they were planning to take action against the driving schools.
“People have bad habits of just allocating themselves space without the city’s approval,” he said.
“The use of the place for such an activity is illegal. We are not getting anything from the driving schools as council. The place is a health hazard and we have earmarked it for something else. We will deal with such unlawful use of city land.”
An official with Dynamic Driving School Mrs Eddie Molly Paraffin said they were paying US$10 monthly to the city council for every car they use at the area.
She said they were paying the amount despite having no written permission to operate from the place.
“We used to have a good place near Mukwati Building, but we were told the place now belongs to the Government,” said Mrs Paraffin. We settled for this place although it is dusty and the situation is worse when it rains.”
Mrs Paraffin said calls for authorities to find a suitable place for driving instructors to conduct lessons were not being answered.
The driving schools took over the open space a few months ago.
Mrs Paraffin urged Government to find           a better solution to the problem if it            wanted driving schools to produce quality drivers.
There has been an outcry from members of the public who argue that the use of the open space by driving schools has destroyed the outlook of the place.
