A drug abuser was yesterday sentenced to six months imprisonment after he was found in possession of crystal meth.
Frudrick Mzilawempi pleaded guilty to the offence before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova.
The State, represented by Faith Mavhudzi, proved that on January 13 detectives from CID Drugs who were deployed in Mabvuku area received information to the effect that Mzilawempi was in possession of dangerous drugs namely crystal meth at Hunters shopping Centre.
The detectives carried out investigations and spotted Mzilawempi seated on the driver’s seat of a vehicle registration number AFP 2147.
They approached him, introduced themselves by production of police identity cards and explained their mission before conducting a body search on him.
During the search detectives recovered one sachet of crystal meth from the left-side pocket of a pair of trousers he was putting on.
He was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics where the drugs were tested.
The drugs weighed 6 grams with a street value of US$100.
