HOUGHTON Park residents say they are losing property to drug addicts camped in the neighbouring Waterfalls.
They said the drug junkies were stealing their blankets, clothes, kitchen utensils and garden tools.
One of the addicts, identified as Tinashe, was found dead along Mukuvisi River, in Waterfalls.
The residents have appealed to the authorities to clear the open space, which has become a haven for drug dealers, drug addicts, self-styled prophets, sangomas, manjuzu and traditional healers.
Residents said they were having sleepless nights because of the criminal activities of the drug addicts.
“We are having sleepless nights because of the men staying along Mukuvisi River in Waterfalls,” said one Houghton Park resident.
Another resident said the criminals abuse drugs and then terrorise them, stealing goods to sell to fund their cravings of drugs and mutoriro.
“Some drug dealers are supplying Sekuru Blackie, who has a shelter at the place.
“There is also a couple which sells illicit drugs to them.
“Self-styled prophets, sangomas, manjuzu and traditional healers have turned the place into one huge stench camp.
“Vanodirwa mika, rice, vanouraya tunjiva vachinzi varikusimbiswa nekubviswa minyama zvaworesa nzvimbo ukuwo mvura yacho yavetsvina yoga yoga,” said the resident.
A visit by this publication at the site yesterday saw a couple submitting their minor child to a self-styled prophet.
He took the minor to the waterfall and bathed it in cold and dirty water before handing it over to the parents.
