Greetings all, I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Well, I haven’t heard anything yet from the Met Department concerning the hot spell that we are currently experiencing. The reason is staying indoors isn’t a good idea especially in this hot weather. However, DStv have made it easier by adding four more channels this month.
As most viewers might have picked since last week, there were four new and exciting entertainment channels added to the DStv platform, namely CBS Drama, CBS Action, JimJam and MGM.
MGM (DStv channel 140) and JimJam (DStv channel 310) are available to all DStv subscribers while CBS Action (DStv channel 133), CBS Drama (DStv channel 134) are available for subscriber from DStv Family to DStv Premium.
This new range of channels includes programming which covers action- packed drama, iconic and unforget- table series, kid’s entertainment and an unparalleled range of Oscar-winning movies.
We are told the launch of these new channels is in line with MultiChoice Africa’s philosophy which is to continuously find fresh content that will bring the very best in the subscribers’ home television viewing experience.
MultiChoice Africa chief executive Nico Meyer said: “As MultiChoice Africa we are determined to maintain our position as Africa’s leader in quality content. As the leading multi-platform pay TV operator in the continent we are determined to remain first place in the hearts and minds of our viewers — I am certain that the launch of this four-channel combo will do exactly that and put us on par with world trends.”
DStv audiences will see a host of content such as smash hit CBS series, “New Twilight Zone” and “Mission: Impossible” on CBS Action, which will be the home of action-packed drama, tense thrillers and sci-fi favourites, while CBS Drama will feature hits such as “Dallas” and “Half & Half” .
Young viewers between one and six and their families will be treated to classic children’s favourites on “JimJam” such as “Bob The Builder” and “Angelina Ballerina” and hit emergency rescue animation “Heroes of The City” on JimJam. MGM offers hand-picked movie entertainment from the iconic Hollywood studio with 14 Best Picture Oscars to its name. The movie maker’s vault boasts huge hit titles including “Dances with Wolves”, “West Side Story”, “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Rain Man” to name a few.
Louise Cottrell, VP Affiliate Sales for Chello Zone, said: “Our growing presence in Africa is an important move, both for Chello Zone and our partnership channels with CBS. As the first major deal for the CBS channels since their successful rebrand, it is a crucial time in their development and we are thrilled to be working with MultiChoice Africa “.
L. Reed Manville, executive vice president of International Channels for CBS Studios International, said: “Our growing presence in Africa is an important move regionally, both for CBS Studios International and our partnership channels with Chello Zone. As the first major deal for the CBS channels since its successful re-brand, we are thrilled to be working with the country’s leading platform MultiChoice.”
Stay tuned to DStv in November for programming that is sure to keep you excited, intrigued and entertained.
