DUDLEY Hall Primary School head urged her students to raise their performance to the best possible levels to help them meet their expectations.
Ms Monica Tagwireyi said this during the schools Prize Giving and Speech Night last week, a night she said will linger long in the memories of students, parents, and staff alike.
She praised the school’s outstanding achievements across the curriculum highlighting a year of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
She noted that the school’s Grade 7 Zimsec national exams results were exceptional, with a pass rate of 99.4% and 22 learners obtaining 6 units.
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, and parents, and I congratulate them on this outstanding achievement.The school had successful tours, including a tour to Botswana by the Humanities Club, and an upcoming tour to Zambia.
“Our students have also participated in NAPH competitions in athletics, ball games, percussion, traditional dance and music, and have brought pride to the school with their outstanding performances.”Guest of Honour Eng. Ngonidzashe Musowe highlighted to students the importance of education.
“Education is more than the acquisition of knowledge—it is the shaping of character, the cultivation of values, and the preparation of young minds for the responsibilities of tomorrow.
“Our learners are not just students; they are future innovators, leaders, and change-makers. It is our collective duty to guide them, inspire them, and reward them when they excel.
“I am delighted to learn of the school’s impressive accomplishments. From academic triumphs to co-curricular victories, Dudley Hall continues to make its mark. Participation in national quiz competitions such as NAC, ZAS, and Heritage has showcased the intellectual prowess of your learners, in sports, your presence in EPSA, NAPH, SASSAF, and NASSAF events reflects a commitment to holistic development.
“Special mention must go to Smyke Moses, whose journey to international athletics is a source of pride for us all,” he said.Provincial Education Director, Edison Chauke, commended the school’s rising demand for places, a clear indicator of trust in its quality.
He also raised practical concerns – timely fee payments, the need for additional school buses, and responsible use of social media—urging stakeholders to use proper channels when addressing grievances and to maintain a united front for the learners’ benefit.
“I begin by commending the school leadership, teachers, parents, learners, and the School Development Committee for the great work being done here.
“The achievements we are witnessing tonight are not by chance — they are the result of hard work, dedication, and unity. The School Development Committee (SDC chairman) Mr Vhiri mentioned the school’s major milestones accomplished through parent and community support: the procurement of new dining tables, the erection of a security fence at the school entrance, and a fresh coat of paint that now brightens every classroom.
“Your contributions are the backbone of our progress. We also undertook and completed a comprehensive painting of the school buildings, giving the school a refreshed and vibrant learning environment that both learners and teachers can be proud of.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to all parents and guardians whose contributions made these developments possible. Your support is not only appreciated — it is the backbone of our progress.”
