ZAC Dufty and his dad Kevin have arrived safely in Italy where the young Zimbabwean motor racing driver will take part in the Trofeo Cup and ROK World Finals Championship this weekend. Yesterday, Kevin assembled and set up the Zanardi kart that they have hired for the two events. On Tuesday Zac had his medical completed, which means that all of the administration and paperwork is done ahead of the Trofeo Cup, an Italian national race, and the ROK World Finals Championship — the “main event” of his tour.
Zac remains confident, even though there are over 100 entrants in the MiniRok class of the World Finals — more than 30 drivers who entered last year.
“We are so very grateful for all the help and support — mechanical and psychological, that we receive from @RKT Racing — and other South African members of the team,” the Duftys said from Italy yesterday.
Then it will be time for the all important “set up” and “shake down” runs.
The track at South Garda is different from tracks here in Zimbabwe . . . they are incredibly “grippy” and not only does Zac have to adapt his driving style and even a few racing lines, but the geometry of the chassis is very different.
