MILTON and Mtshabezi are through to the Dumisani Ndlovu Foundation Schools Football boys Under-15 League final to be staged in August after they finished in the top two in the log standings.
This year, instead of the teams playing each other home and away as has been the norm since the league was launched in 2015, two tournaments took place, the first one in March at Milton with the second in May at Entumbane where the four teams which are part of the league got to play each other on the day.
Milton, who were second from bottom after the first tournament made a remarkable improvement in the second which saw them finish top of the log with 13 points, secured from four wins and one draw while they tasted defeat once in the six matches they played.
Mtshabezi claimed 10 points from three victories and one draw while they were on the losing end twice. Entumbane occupied third spot and it was a terrible show for Gifford, the winners of the competition in 2015 and 2016.
The Nathan Tshuma-coached Gifford only won one of the six matches they played with one draw and four defeats.
At the final of the tournament to be played in the presence of the United Kingdom sponsor, Dumisani Ndlovu on 23 August at Milton, two guest schools, Donkwedonkwe of Kezi and Dlamini from Tsholotsho will take on Entumbane as well as Gifford in a round robin format to determine the third-placed side.
Girls have been incorporated into the tournament with Mtshabezi to clash with Entumbane. All the teams to play on the final day will get uniforms provided by Ndlovu.
Last year, Gifford put home advantage to good use when they defeated Mtshabezi 4-1 on penalties in the final which had concluded 1-1 in normal time. Gifford received a trophy and a playing kit for their efforts.
