Two of the three men who defrauded Delatfin Civil Engineering of US$3 million through the sale of stands were each sentenced to 18 years in jail.
The other accused person, Amos Kagona, fatally shot himself in Borrowdale last week on the day he was supposed to be sentenced.

Harare Regional magistrate, Mr Stanford Mambanje yesterday initially sentenced Jacob Muyambo and Saymods Mutakura to 20 years in jail before suspending two years on the condition of good behavior.

He also ruled that all the stands should be handed back to Delatfin.

In his ruling, Mr Mambanje noted that the accused persons are first offenders.

He, however, said it was clear that the accused persons came up with a premeditated plan to commit the offense.

“The evidence by the State was credible and resulted in the accused persons being convicted,” he said.
