Duo jailed for possession of crystal meth

Tonderai Kaleso (37) and Tinashe Mwizi (33) from Chiedza, Karoi were yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for unlawful possession of a dangerous drug, crystal meth.
They will however serve an effective 6 months in prison after 6 months were suspended for 5 years.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the duo appeared before the Karoi Magistrate’s Court facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

“Tonderai Kaleso (37) and Tinashe Mwizi (33) from Chiedza, Karoi appeared before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs,” read the statement.

“On August 10, 2024 police detectives got a tip-off to the effect that the accused persons had dangerous drugs at a house in Chiedza, Karoi,” said the NPAZ.

“Acting on the tip-off, the investigators approached the accused persons and conducted a search in their room and found one sachet containing methylenedioxy methamphetamine.

“The accused persons were arrested after they failed to produce documents allowing them to have the said drugs.”
