Duration Gold’s Vubachikwe Mine has released a workout plan that management believes could see a return to optimum production.
The plan has already been presented to key ministries, and crucial stakeholders, including workers, will soon receive it for review and feedback.
“Crucially we have identified the need to engage and distribute the plan to crucial stakeholders, the most important being, of course, the workers,” said mine spokesperson Robert Mukondiwa.
“Elaborate steps are therefore being taken to engage key members of staff . . . to ensure that they read the document and make contributions, suggestions and observations before it is officially tabled for discussion.”
Mine Manager None Kananji promised regular updates as the plan moves forward.
“The key to making sure all are not anxious is constant communication,” said Kananji.
“Until the end of it all we shall of course be communicating where we stand, whether we will have moved at sloth’s pace or made giant strides.
“The key to making sure all are not anxious is constant communication.”
The mine had been closed since a strike by “marauding rogues” last year. The strike followed a salary dispute and resulted in a demonstration that had been prohibited by police.
“The triumph of the Zimbabwean spirit is in itself characterised by our ability to sow peace where there is acrimony and doing so through dialogue no less,” said Mukondiwa.
“As an entity, the belief is that engagement and intelligent discourse is the only way to achieve harmony and a complete return to optimum production.”
