STAUNCH Dynamos supporter Chris “Romario” Musekiwa believes FC are minnows in local football history, as he rallied DeMbare ahead of the blockbuster Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal match at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The high-profile match has been dubbed “the final before the final”, as DeMbare and Pure Platinum Play are also involved in a two-horse race for the 2021/2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.
FC Platinum lead the race with 58 points, eight clear of Dynamos going into the last seven rounds of the campaign.
Pure Platinum Play are also holders of the Chibuku Super Cup, having knocked out DeMbare at the semi-final stage in 2021.
The Zvishavane side also won the Cup in 2014.
DeMbare, on the other hand, are yet to lay their hands on the Chibuku Super Cup, which was introduced in 2014.
The best they have achieved is a finals’ appearance in 2015 when they lost 2-1 against Harare City.
But Musekiwa still thinks FC Platinum, who have also won the league for the last three consecutive seasons, are still minnows in local football.
“As Dynamos supporters, we are rallying behind our beloved Glamour Boys,” said Musekiwa.
“We have a decent squad capable of stopping FC Platinum.
“Yes, FC Platinum are good and they have a very good coach in Norman Mapeza, but they are little-known when it comes to Zimbabwean football history …
“We are chasing a league and Cup double success, and we are good to go,” he said.
