THEY might be underwhelming in the field of play, but Dynamos are scoring big outside after sealing a landmark kit partnership deal with a Pakistan company Sport De Vitara.
The deal was signed at the Embassy of Pakistan in Harare a couple of hours after the Glamour Boys claimed only their second win of the season, beating Yadah 1-0 to take their tally to 14 points and ease their relegation concerns.
DeMbare have started the term in the worst possible manner clinching just two wins in 16 games and their priority now is to move as further away from the drop zone as they can rather than join up with the leading pack.
But the power of their brand, in good and bad times, is enduring with the body of evidence fully parading itself with the signing of the agreement that will see Dynamos receiving training and playing kits as well as travelling gear and replicas from the globally-acclaimed firm that also dresses Ghana giants Hearts of Oak.
The deal comes into effect starting January next year.
It’s a follow-up to what the Pakistan Ambassador to Zimbabwe Murad Baseer promised to the Glamour Boys when he made a generous donation of soccer equipment including customised footballs in 2023.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Baseer said: “We have finally managed to bring a Pakistan company that specialises with manufacturing unique sport goods.
“Their coming to Zimbabwe means a lot in this regard. This is the first step,” said Baseer.
“You (Sport De Vitara) have done well to come to Zimbabwe, a beautiful country. You know they (Dynamos) play football and you have brought a lot of joy for the whole club which has a lot of following in the country. They are the most decorated as well.”
Sport De Vitara chairman Asim Ijaz Malik is relishing the partnership and hailed Baseer for showing him the pointers to the Glamour Boys.
“I am happy. I am sure your (Dynamos) players and fans will be very happy.
“It’s a great honour for us to be in this partnership.
“This is only because of the support of His Excellency Ambassador Baseer who was pushing me to come here and forge this partnership,” he said.
“We are already in Ghana, Egypt and other countries and I am glad we have added Zimbabwe through Dynamos to that list.”
The deal was signed in the presence of Dynamos board chairperson Bernard Marriot Lusengo along with the entire executive.
Executive chairman Moses Maunganidze was excited to see the Glamour Boys sealing the deal and said:
“As the executive chairman of Dynamos, I am more than happy, more so against the backdrop of our team’s 1-0 win over Yadah earlier today (on Thursday afternoon).
“As a football club, we have set ourselves key deliverables which we are committed to complete in the short to medium term.
“There are so many things happening at the club, but I am sure this is one of the key deliverables that we have been talking about. I think it’s one of the big tick on our part.
“As we launch this partnership, we promise our fans that we are already ahead of time. We need to make amends and make Dynamos big again.
“We will also make sure that we make available replicas that we need to provide to our fans.
“We have created a formidable partnership between Dynamos and Sport De Vitara.
“We hope to see some of these accessories coming through soon. This is a company that has made a huge footprint in Africa and they have arrived in Zimbabwe via Dynamos.”
