HARARE giants Dynamos are preparing an improved contract for striker Frank Agyemang to ward off reported interest from Castle Lager Premiers Soccer League champions Scottland and other rival clubs.

The Ghanaian, who joined DeMbare on a three-year deal in January 2025, has become one of the club’s stand-out performers this season.

His form has attracted enquiries from several local and regional clubs.

He has backed that form with eight goals that have kept sixth-placed DeMbare within shouting distance of the leading pack.

A highly placed Dynamos source said the club was not prepared to sell.

“There have been consultations from different clubs regarding Frank because of the season he is having, but our position is clear.

“We want him to remain at Dynamos,” the source said.

“The club is already looking at improving his terms and extending his stay. He remains a very important player in our project, and we believe his future is here.”

The source added that while interest was “normal when a player performs well,” Dynamos had not entered formal negotiations with any club. Scottland are building a squad for their maiden CAF Champions League campaign after winning the league title.

Sources say they are monitoring Agyemang but are also prioritising other targets, including a Namibian striker, as part of a broader recruitment drive.

Dynamos secretary-general Divine Sena recently said the club wanted to “build the team around players of Agyemang’s quality rather than lose them.”

Away from the radar that has been hovering over their Ghanaian import, there was calm at Dynamos as business proceeded in the absence of suspended coach Genesis Mangombe and his assistants — Newsome Mutema and Tonderai Marume.

A visit to the cub’s training ground at Glamis Arena showed that there was no “chaos” at the club.

DeMbare also dismissed the social media speculation that the Harare giants were in tatters  following Mangombe’s suspension.

Mangombe was placed on indefinite suspension earlier this week pending investigations into allegations of match-fixing and forcing players to use juju.

The club said he remains under contract and will face a disciplinary hearing within 14 days.

“We have not axed the coach. He is on suspension pending disciplinary hearing proceedings,” the club said.

Confusion arose in some circles when Romanian Aristica Cioaba, set to be unveiled as the Glamour Boys’ technical director, was spotted at training and at DeMbare’s Battle of Zimbabwe showdown against Highlanders at Barbourfields, which ended 1-1.

Dynamos, who have since applied for a work permit for the 54-year-old, clarified that Cioaba is joining as technical director as the club looks to strengthen their dressing room ahead of a return to the CAF Confederation Cup this year.

Cioaba is set to come in as our Technical Director. He is not taking over Mangombe’s post and hopefully by the end of the day on Friday his paperwork will be completed,” the club said.

Former Zimbabwe international midfielder and team  manager Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda has been running training sessions while Mangombe awaits his hearing and the Harare giants wait on Cioaba to get his work permit.

It means that should Mangombe be cleared of the slew of the charges he is facing, some of the damning, he would have to work with the Romanian.

While looking to tie down Agyemang, Dynamos have also moved to bolster their attack amid indications that two strikers from the Democratic Republic of Congo are in the country for a possible signing ahead of the transfer window which opens on July 1.

Talented former Zimbabwe youth international Callum English-Brown is also now set to be registered when the mid-season window opens.
