AFTER teetering on the brink of what would have been an embarrassing relegation from the Premier Soccer League, Dynamos have been soul-searching and are now looking to launch an audacious bid to lure their former coach Kalisto Pasuwa back.
Pasuwa is currently the Malawi senior team coach.
But that has not stopped speculation and the rumour mill from constantly linking his name with a return to club football.
The incoming Dynamos executive committee are understood to be exploring the possibility of prizing the trendsetting coach from his Flames job.
Pasuwa is the last coach to deliver a league title to Dynamos, achieving a historic four-peat by winning the championship from 2011 to 2014 before his departure for Malawi.
His tenure is remembered for its dominant and bullish football.
Currently, Pasuwa serves as the head coach of the Malawi senior national team, under a contract that extends until 2027.
However, sources indicate Dynamos are eager to secure his services, and Pasuwa is reportedly open to a return to his former club, provided all formal procedures are followed.
While Pasuwa is the frontrunner, Dynamos have also been linked with other coaches, including Genesis Mangombe and their former defender and current Warriors assistant Kaitano Tembo.
There had been rumours linking Tonderayi Ndiraya before he was unveiled as Chicken Inn coach following the sacking of veteran Joey Antipas last week.
The search for Kelvin Kaindu’s replacement as Dynamos head coach, marks one of the first major tasks for the club’s new executive committee, headed by chairman Vincent Chawonza.
Sources indicate that the new executive is currently deliberating on the coach’s appointment in order to kick-start their search for players who will make the 2026 squad.
“There is a strong will on both sides to make this reunion happen.
“Coach Pasuwa holds Dynamos in very high regard, but there is also a profound respect for his current contract with Malawi,” sources told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
“Any move would require a formal approach and a structured negotiation between the club and the Football Association of Malawi. The talks are genuine, but they are at a delicate stage.”
“Meanwhile, the club is also considering other available options including other Dynamos sons with proper qualifications. The club is looking for an individual who can help the club run professionally,” added the sources.
Dynamos also have the pair of Thomas Ruzive and ex-striker Takesure Chinyama on their books and the duo was Kaindu’s lieutenants as the Harare giants launched their escape from relegation and also won the Chibuku Super Cup for a third successive season.
