Dzeko pulls down opponent’s shorts

LONDON. — Edin Dzeko received what could be the most bizarre red card of the year after pulling down an opponent’s shorts during a World Cup soccer qualifier on Sunday. The former Manchester City striker was sent off by referee Jonas Eriksson for his involvement in an altercation with Kyriakos Papadopoulos during Bosnia & Herzegovina’s 1-1 draw with Greece.

Bosnia captain Dzeko, who now plays his club football for Roma, was bundled to the ground by Papadopoulos with his side leading the match 1-0 with just 15 minutes remaining. The Greek defender then attempted to wrestle ball away from Dzeko, who reacted angrily – ripping down his opponents shorts in a bizarre show of defiance while still prone on the floor. — The Daily Mail.
