During the academic discussion forum renowned artistes such as Amakhosi Theatre director Cont Mhlanga and other cultural and arts experts from as far afield as Witwatersrand University in South Africa are expected to address participants on various topics.
Dzimbahwe Arts Festival director Dr Jacob Mapara said the academic discussion forum was aimed at enriching Great Zimbabwe University to become a world-acclaimed centre for arts and cultural heritage studies.
“The academic discussion forum will also enable various experts and academics from within and without our borders to have an opportunity to brainstorm on the national cultural policy which is yet to be unveiled,’” said Dr Mapara.
During the five-day Dzimbahwe Arts Festival there will be a theatre festival, musical performances, visual Arts display and culinary arts exhibition.The festival, now in its fifth year, will be officially opened tomorrow.
The Dzimbahwe Arts Festival is also expected to draw academics and arts enthusiasts from other local universities such as the University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University and Chinhoyi University of Technology among others.
