PRO50 log leaders Eagles will seek to continue with the fine run of form in the domestic one-day cricket competition as they face second-placed Rhinos tomorrow at Kwekwe Sports Club.
Eagles lead the log standings with 12 points from six matches and remain the only unbeaten team so in the season.
They face a stern test against Rhinos, who lost their first match of the season last Saturday to Tuskers.
Rhinos currently sit second on the log table with six points from four matches.
And, the fact that Eagles are unbeaten this season is something that has left Eagles coach Elton Chigumbura excited.
“It’s feels good to be unbeaten.
“But, for us the most important thing and our objective for the season is to win the title and we remain focused and with the players we have, I believe we can, “ said Chigumbura.
And for Chigumbura whose charges recorded back-to-back wins against Mountaineers last weekend admits that the match against Rhinos will be a stern test for his charges.
“Friday game is not an easy game for us considering that Rhinos have been in good form of late.
“It will be a stern test for us,” said the Eagles coach.
Despite admitting that the clash against Rhinos will not be stroll in the park for his side, the former national team captain is confident of extending their winning run.
“For us we will have to keep on playing positive cricket and we are not going to change what we have been doing hence we will maintain the standard and I am confident that we will come up on top of Friday,” said Chigumbura.
The former national skipper attributes his charges fine run of form to his players sticking to the team’s game plan.
“Definitely we have had a good start to the Pro50 Championships and this can be attributed to the guys playing well and sticking to our game plan while we make sure that each player plays his role in taking responsibility,” he said.
The former Chevrons skipper was last week appointed to the national team selection panel together with national team coach Dave Houghton and David Mutendera.
He described the appointment as an honour
“I am honoured to be part of the panel and I am looking forward to contribute from a former player point of view,” said Chigumbura.
