MATABELELAND North is celebrating a strong season with the Agriculture and Rural Development Advisory Service (Ardas) saying early-planted crops reach full maturity.
Ardas Matabelelnd North provincial director Mr Mkhunjulelwa Ndlovu confirmed that most fields are in excellent condition, bringing a promising outlook for local food security and a well-deserved reward for farmers’ hard work.
“Despite the progress, the work isn’t over. Farmers with late-planted crops must continue weeding and applying top-dressing to ensure they reach the finish line,” said Mr Ndlovu.
“Those growing traditional grains are especially urged to step up bird scaring and pest scouting to prevent losses just as the grains ripen.”
Mr Ndlovu emphasised that staying active in the fields now is the key to a successful season.
He said by remaining vigilant against pests and diseases in these final weeks, the community can ensure that this year’s promising growth turns into a record-breaking harvest for the province.
