It was all smiles at Chikurubi female prison as they received a massive donation from ZPCS Commissioner General’s wife Mrs Marian Chihobvu on Thursday.

Among the gifts that were received by inmates were baby shawls, wool dresses, skirts and jerseys. They also received hats, booties sets, sanitary wear, adult trousers and dresses and food stuff.

Speaking at the event Mrs Chinhobvu said: “Inmates should not be judged because of what they have done but what they will become after serving their sentences.”

“We encourage people outside the prison gates to come and visit their relatives no matter the crime they had committed and also they should shower them with love as they are changed individuals” she added.

Superintendent and Officer in Charge at Female Prison Mrs Gloria Tamanikwa expressed her gratitude towards the donations.

“Thank you Mrs Chihobvu for this early Christmas present that you have given us today. It shows that you love and remember us as your children here at Chikurubi and may the good Lord continue to bless you.”
