East Rovers begin new year in style

A UNITED Kingdom-based Zimbabwean gave a New Year’s Day cheer to one of Bulawayo’s oldest football clubs – East Rovers – when she donated a playing kit to the club.Sinikiwe Mutsure donated a complete kit for the first team and jerseys for the juniors. The Pumula East-based side play in the Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league.

“I was approached and saw it fit to give back to the community. I grew up watching a vibrant East Rovers and it will be my dream to see this team rise again,” she said. “We’ll keep on supporting them whichever way we can.”

East Rovers life president Sam Ncube said it was a dream come true to see youngsters giving back to the team.
“It’s really heart-warming to see young people taking a big role to uplift the team that has been the heart of Pumula,” Ncube said.
“I’m very proud with what Mutsure has done for the team. This donation will be a major boost for us, we are always dependent on the community for handouts.”
