THE ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League executive will today meet the newly-promoted clubs who will be joining them for the forthcoming season.

The indaba will be held at the Civic Centre in Masvingo. The four teams are Manica Diamonds Under-19, FC Wangu Mazodzi, JM Busha and Nzuma Bar FC.

League chairman, Davison Muchena, said they will be meeting with the new clubs ahead of their annual meeting set for next weekend. “The idea is to see if the teams are well vested with our expectations, as a league, as they are coming from Division Two,’’ he said.

“We have invited all the four clubs from our feeder regions, who gained promotion, as we prepare for the resumption of the league. “It has been long without the matches but as things stand, we are likely to start the season, be it next year, and we need to remain positive.

“We are going to see if the teams have the capacity to fulfil their fixtures throughout the season. “We would not like a situation where a team will only play in the first half of the season and suddenly become bankrupt.’’ Muchena said they will also help the clubs with FIFA player registration procedures. “We will help the new clubs with player registration so that they will not have any challenges when they come into the League.

“As of now, I think, we are the only region, apart from the Premier Soccer League, who have all their player registered properly with FIFA. As a development league, we need to protect our clubs and their players, so we are moving with the times, in terms of registration.’’
