Econet appoint Moyo as finance director

Listed telecoms giant, Econet Wireless yesterday announced that it will have a new finance director beginning Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

In a statement, Econet said, “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Chengeto L. Moyo to the position of Finance Director for Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited with effect from March 1, 2023.

He joined the Econet Group on November 1, 2008 as Chief Finance Officer focusing on operational excellence. He is a seasoned and experienced financial practitioner who has worked in mining, financial services, tourism and FMCG sectors, prior to joining telecommunications industry.

According to the group, Mr Moyo has operated at an Executive level in strategic planning and has been instrumental in remodelling businesses into profit-making through cost optimisation programs.

As of qualifications, he holds BAcc (Honours) from University of Zimbabwe, Masters in Business Leadership (UNISA) and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe), having served Articles of Clerkship with Deloitte & Touche.

He succeeds Mr Roy Chimanikire who was named deputy chief executive officer of the group early last year. He joined the group in 2009 from Deloitte & Touche, where he was a Partner.

Mr Chaminikire is a qualified Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe) and past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe.

In February 2016, Mr Chimanikire was appointed to the board as the Group’s Finance Director.
