Economic progress impressive: VP Mohadi

ZIMBABWE is on course to achieving the liberation struggle objective of economic emancipation and local businesses are doing exceptionally well for the realisation of this dream, Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said.

The Vice President was speaking after touring exhibition stands at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show in Harare yesterday, where he said he was impressed by the competencies of local businesses. Economic emancipation, said VP Mohadi, is top of Zanu PF’s vision through which the party now has a fully-fledged and functioning economic arm which was also part of the exhibitors yesterday.

VP Mohadi — himself an accomplished farmer— was particularly enthused by the fact that some companies are now assembling tractors locally.

“They are doing wonders. If you look at the stands, be they commercial, be they agriculture, they are doing very well,” said VP Mohadi.

He said he was impressed to find out that local firms were assembling tractors.

“They are very good tractors and I saw some that I loved which are very good for citrus trees because I am into orchards.

“So, they are doing very well. I am coming from the animals, the cattle, they are also good, they are of good quality, better than what I saw last year,” said VP Mohadi.

“Zimbabweans are doing very well. They are contributing towards Vision 2030. I think come 2030, which is six years from now, we will be much better than what we are doing”. He also visited the Zanu PF stand which is exhibiting the party’s economic activities, and VP Mohadi said they are implementing the second objective of the liberation war.

“When we waged the struggle we had two things in mind, and we stand by that, first it was political emancipation which was political independence, self-determination that’s what we wanted,” said VP Mohadi.

“But, we knew that after that we were going to have an economic struggle which is what we are getting into now, and Zanu PF has just engaged that, we have the economic department that has been showcasing quite many things that they are doing, so we are on that journey.”
