MATABELELAND North Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Richard Moyo, has emphasised that economics must take priority over politics in development efforts.

Minister Moyo made the remarks during his welcome address at the Heritage Training Workshop for Matabeleland North councillors, which began today in Bulawayo and will run until Sunday.

He stressed that national and district development projects should be of the highest importance for all local authority officials. He encouraged councillors to maintain regular communication with traditional leaders when planning the utilisation of devolution funds.

The Minister also emphasised the need for leaders to set an example through their daily actions, urging that Government employees should adopt an open-door policy to facilitate easier access to Government services for the community.
