THE sex-crazed cross-border driver, who has been luring and raping rural girls using false job promises in South Africa, should be punished.
Mike Moyo, alias Sikhulumo Mathe, has been preying on desperate job seekers for 15 years.
This makes him a heartless sex predator who should be punished for his evil acts.
Mathe has been using all sorts of dirty tricks to violate rural girls who are in search of greener pastures.
The fact that he also called himself a prophet shows that everything he did was premeditated.
Self-styled prophets are known for violating women’s rights by scaring them and demanding sexual favours.
The chilling confession by one of his victims, who was attacked in 2009, who claimed that Mathe broke her virginity, is hard to take.
It’s clear there could be more girls who have been violated.
The problem is that many people conceal such evil acts for one reason or another and this then compromises investigations which are necessary to show the extent of the abuse.
Others don’t know the right channels to use to air their grievances.
What gives us hope that action will be taken against Mathe is that the matter has now been raised in Parliament.
There is no hiding place for this monster now.
The Member of Parliament for Bubi, who is also Higher and Tertiary Deputy Minister, Similiswizwe Sibanda, dragged the abuses into the House of Assembly.
When such matters are raised in Parliament, it’s a clear indication that our political representatives really mean business.
Similar cases have been happening in many of our rural areas where people can be easily fooled by those who use the case of fake job promises.
Mathe’s victims should come forward and help nail this sex predator.
We can’t allow this man to remain on the loose when his whereabouts are easily known.
The police should also intensify investigations and interview more victims of abuse.
We feel for the parents, who lost their cash and livestock as payment to Mathe, in return for the promised jobs.
Livestock is a form of wealth in our culture and losing this treasure to crooks is a big loss to these families.
We urge our communities in the rural areas not to trust anyone as many people, who claim they are working as cross-border drivers, are now into human trafficking.
Victims of human trafficking are turned into sex slaves while others are made to work long hours.
Perpetrators of these crimes, like Mathe, should be made an example and face the music.
The police, and various stakeholders, should intensify awareness campaigns against sex predators and human trafficking to save women.
Mathe should be used as an example so that other evil people, who want to use the same ways of deceiving young women and then sexually abusing them, will know the dangers of their missions.
