THE arrest of four men, who were printing wads of fake US dollars, shows that we have some serious criminals among us.
Their temerity to print fake money is an indication that we have people who are prepared to go very far in their attempts to get rich by any means necessary.
The quartet targeted unsuspecting people where they would get genuine US dollars, in change, after making transactions using counterfeit notes.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed their arrest on Monday.
He added that the quartet has since been remanded in custody awaiting trial.
This should come as good news to those who were fleeced by this shameless gang.
This was unfair to the targeted business enterprises, which lost cash to these shameless con artists.
Some business enterprises thrive on pushing large volumes since they don’t make super profits.
It meant that some of their profits were wiped in these dubious transactions.
Some businesses can easily collapse after losing genuine greenback notes in these shady transactions.
The daring gang was finally busted by the police and revealed their modus operandi upon investigations.
Now that they have been arrested, we are praying that more victims of the gang’s shenanigans make police reports.
Victims should furnish the police and courts with evidence to ensure that the notorious gang rots in jail.
Duping hard working entrepreneurs should never be allowed to take root in this country.
In these trying times for local businesses, every dollar counts for the companies.
Shop assistants need to practice due diligence when making cash transactions.
They should not have a blind trust in every customer who comes to their shop.
Such blind trust is what opens the window for these con artists to strike and fleece the companies, and individuals, of their hard-earned cash.
Shop assistants need to trust the power of scanners to ensure that they don’t receive fake money.
In cases where they receive fake money, they should raise an alarm and ensure they help to get such criminals arrested.
We can’t afford to be a nation harbouring crooks who don’t care about the plight of those whom they hit with their con artistry.
A number of people have been losing money to such crooks, the majority of whom are still on the loose.
People should learn to work hard and avoid short-cuts to success.
Lust and the love for easy life seem to be driving many people to commit such crimes.
This should never be tolerated in this economic environment.
The culprits should face the music as they are enjoying the fruits of other people’s hard work.
As a nation, we need to weed out such criminals, many of whom are even thinking of fine-tuning their methods of deceiving people and business organisations.
