Alick Macheso celebrated his 55th birthday and the launch of his sons’ new album at Tanza Centre, Chitungwiza on Friday.
Esau and Tatenda Macheso released an album called Pahukama, comprising six tracks, and Macheso applauded his sons for following in his footsteps and asked his fans to support them.
It is always a proud moment for a parent to see their child succeed in whatever they choose to pursue.
For famous musician Macheso, seeing his children follow in his footsteps and become musicians must be a dream come true. However, what is even more impressive is that he did not force them to follow his career path.
As parents, it is natural to want the best for our children. Some may be inclined to push their children towards careers that they feel will guarantee success or prestige, even if it is not something their child is passionate about.
However, Macheso’s decision to let his children choose their own path shows his commitment to their happiness and success as individuals.
Choosing a career is a very personal decision, and should not be made by anyone else, but the individual themselves.
Macheso’s children have been given the freedom to explore their own interests and talents, and as a result, they have found a deep passion for music, just like their father.
It is heart-warming to see that Macheso has taken a back-seat and allowed his children to follow their own passions. The fact that they have chosen music, in a way, is proof of the strong influence their father has had on them.
They have been exposed to it from a very young age. However, it is important to note that the decision to pursue music was ultimately theirs, and not their father’s.
The two boys actually approached their dad and asked for his blessings to pursue music.
Macheso’s decision to allow his children the freedom to choose their own career path is a lesson that all parents should take to heart.
It is important, as parents, to guide our children towards their passions and talents, but ultimately, it is up to them to decide what they want to do with their lives.
Choosing a career can be a daunting task, especially for young people. It is important for parents to recognise that they are not the ones who will have to live with the consequences of their child’s career path.
Pushing our children towards a career they do not want can lead to resentment and unhappiness in the long run.
By allowing his children to choose their own careers, Macheso has shown that he cares more about their happiness and fulfilment than his own ambitions.
It takes a great deal of strength to let go of our own desires for our children and trust that they will make the right decisions for themselves.
Parents should take a leaf out of Macheso’s book and not force their children to follow their own career paths.
It is important to nurture our children’s passions and guide them to the best of our ability, but ultimately, the decision to choose a career should be left to them.
