YESTERDAY we ran a depressing story of a Harare man who is being accused of turning his girlfriend into his SEX OBJECT, which has now spilled into court.
The woman is claiming he broke her virginity in what she claims was a violent sexual attack, which has left her a shattered person, who is now struggling to tame the psychological demons inflicted by the ordeal.
She also had a dream to get a man who will become her husband and raise a family.
She says she felt that chance had come when she met Tatenda Parwaingira one day in Harare and their chance meeting later developed into a love affair.
However, she claims, in court papers, that the first signs that things were not what they seemed to be came on the very first day that Parwaingira invited her to his rented home in Harare. She claims that was the day she lost her virginity and says he forcefully pushed her onto his bed and her attempts to resist his move to have sex with her proved unsuccessful as he overpowered her.
She claims she wanted to report the attack to the police, which would have been a rape case, but was forced to have a change of mind when Parwaingira promised her that he would marry her.
She said the possibility of getting married, to someone she had started to love, convinced her to give Parwaingira a chance rather than report him to the police.
But, she now regrets all that after Parwaingira showed her his true colours by abusing her, in an ordeal in which Chief Seke says she was being used as his sex object, before he dumped her.
We feel sorry for this woman and this is yet another case in which women have been lured into a nest of abuse by the men they felt would provide them with both love and comfort.
It’s very clear that this woman has suffered a lot and her dream to have a loving partner, and a stable marriage, have all gone up in smoke.
The tragedy is that she is not the only woman who has found herself in such a horrible situation.
The #MeToo movement was started by women who refused to accept such abuse as normal and it has toppled many of the world’s most powerful women.
There are thousands of women who find themselves in a similar situation and they need the same courage, which she has shown, to come out and reveal the ordeal they went through.
They don’t need to suffer in silence but they need to pour it all out of their chests because doing so is part of the healing process for them given they will likely get some support from organisations which are there to protect such broken souls.
There are a lot of evil men out there whose mission in life is to seduce women, use them as objects for their wild fantasies and then dump them after shattering all the dreams which these women had.
