POLICE in Beitbridge are investigating a case involving eight armed robbers who attacked imbibers in Kwalu 2 suburb on Tuesday night, forcibly took money and left their victims injured.

The gang, which was armed with knives, iron bars, and catapults violently attacked four men and stole R2 350 and US$200 and disappeared.
Beitbridge’s head of the police Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo said the incident occurred on Tuesday at 10PM.
He said they were yet to arrest the eight gang members, adding that investigations were in progress.
The four victims aged between 30 and 33 were treated and discharged at Beitbridge District Hospital.
“On the day in question, the four complainants were seated drinking beer beside a fireplace when eight unknown male adults approached them armed with catapults, iron bars, and okapi knives, ordered everyone to sit down and surrender valuables,” said Chief Supt Nyongo.
“The complainants then sat on the ground and the accused persons searched them.
“The suspects took varying amounts of money from their victims.
“They also stabbed them with okapi knives and assaulted them with iron bars”.
He said the gang stripped the complainants of clothes, cellphones, and money all worth R2 350 and US$200.
After committing the offence, they disappeared into the darkness.
The four injured men were rushed to the district hospital for medical attention and the matter was later reported to the police.
