EIGHT Bulawayo councillors on Thursday were sworn into office, after taking oath in front of the City’s mayor.

The eight join a bevy of councillors from both Zanu PF and the Citizen’s Coalition  for Change, who will be running the City’s affairs for the next five years.

Among the newly elected are Zanu PF members, musician Cdes Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi (Ward 20), businessman Tavengwa Zidya (Ward 24) and Josiah Mutangi (Ward 1).

Other elected members include some who were recalled from CCC, leading to the December 9 by-elections. These are Mr Donaldson Mabutho (Ward 9), Mr Felix Madzana (Ward 18),  Ms Thobeka Mmeli Moyo (Ward 22), Mr Tinevimbo Maposa (Ward 21) and Nkosinathi Hove Mpofu (Ward 6).

Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart congratulated them for being elected and urged them to work in unison.

“Congratulations to you all. I would like to encourage you to work in unison. Here we work as a team and therefore do not encourage a partisan approach,” said Sen Coltart.
