for Kinshasa, DRC, cannot go unchallenged. This is not the first time that these organisations led by Global Witness and Partnership Canada Africa have vainly tried to employ arm twisting tactics to swing the diamond watchdog’s decision in their favour. During the June 2011 meeting in Kinshasa, they shamelessly walked out of a meeting in a futile attempt to impose their imperial will on other participants.
In this drive, the ignominious civic groups are pushing for reforms in the KPCS that are designed to force throat other participants to pander to the whims of the western agenda. These reforms include but are not limited to an attempt to revise the term “blood diamond” so that it corruptly encompasses the false situation they are feverishly propagating about Zimbabwe.
Buoyed by mendacious reports generated by their local surrogates represented by the Centre for Research and Development, the civic groups want to use the diamonds issue as a facade to denigrate the government of President Mugabe in an unbridled attempt to engineer a regime change in Zimbabwe.
Such atrocious machinations should not be condoned. The question is whose interests do these truant organisations represent in KPCS?
Do they represent the diamond producers or the diamond buying nations?
What is apparent is that they are non constituent entities smuggled into the KPCS to vociferously undermine the interests of diamond producing countries for the concomitant benefit of the diamond processing imperial countries.
Like everywhere else in global politics, these western engineered civic organisations would like to pose as the representatives of the suffering African people, feigning to be the voice of the voiceless. Unfortunately their cover had long been blown and consequently we have been disabused of their false claim to be champions of human rights. They are an agile imperial tentacle of the resource seeking hegemonic westerners.
What baffles the mind though is that while these groups remain unnecessarily engrossed on the non existent human rights abuses in Zimbabwe, they are deliberately turning a blind eye to brazen and undeniable human rights abuses being perpetrated daily by the west in all corners of the world including in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.
In these resource-blessed nations, world bullies are indiscriminately killing citizens with precision bombs on the pretext of protecting them from their leaders or fighting terrorism yet their plain objective is to gain unfettered access to their abundant mineral resources. These are uncontested cases where minerals are illegally looted and traded at the cost of innumerable human lives.
These western engineered “mineral wars” are unmitigated cases of countries militarily looting minerals for their bigoted benefit. These are “blood minerals” which must gain the immediate attention of these civic organisations who fallaciously claim to be champions of human rights. They are tangible human rights abuse cases that deserve to be roundly ostracised and be brought to the International Criminal Court.
Surprisingly, the so-called civic organisations are standing akimbo and remain unmoved by this overwhelming imperial genocide. Instead they choose to desperately scrounge for non existent evidence on human rights abuses in Zimbabwe in order to score some premeditated and cheap imperial goals.
Notwithstanding this, the so-called civic organisations have also consciously disregarded volatile situation in the Congo basin where real “blood diamonds” are sold to known western countries.
According to a UN report titled “Report of the Panel of Experts on the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources and Other Forms of Wealth of the Democratic Republic of the Congo” released in 2001, western countries have been receiving “blood diamonds” from Uganda and Rwanda secured from the DRC through war.
The report sensationally revealed that both Rwanda and Uganda do not have diamond mines in their countries yet they have managed to export tones of diamond carats to various western destinations.
The two western-backed countries used war and genocide to steal minerals from eastern provinces of DRC. All this happened under the supposed watchful eyes of these civic organisations that never lifted a finger to condemn the West for being complicit in these scandalous “blood diamond” dealings.
Ironically, the same blood drenched western bloc now stands as the KPCS judge and jury that shamelessly condemn Zimbabwe on fictitious accusations of trading in “blood diamonds”.
It should, however, be underscored that both the west and their pliant civic organisations do not have the moral latitude or the democratic standing to adjudge us on these fabricated human rights abuses.
Naturally, the civic organisations and the other non-diamond producing imperial nations do not have the right to participate in KPCS business.
If the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries is strictly constituted by oil-producing nations, what gives non-diamond producing nations and civic organisations the right to actively participate and police trade in diamonds?
