A FAMILY from Wengezi is appealing for public assistance in locating an elderly woman who went missing in Chipinge on Sunday while attending a funeral.
Ms Teclar Mashava, popularly known as Mbuya Nyamudoka, was last seen in the Gaza area of Chipinge where she had travelled to attend the funeral of her daughter-in-law.
Her son, Mr Brian Nyamudoka, said Ms Mashava accompanied relatives to the funeral following the death of the wife of her brother, who resides in Chipinge.
Mr Nyamudoka said the family later left the homestead to collect the deceased’s body from Moonlight Funeral Parlour. During their absence, Ms Mashava reportedly wandered away unnoticed.
“She has dementia and is believed to have left the homestead while family members were away collecting the body. When they returned, she was nowhere to be found,” he said.
Ms Mashava has ginger-coloured hair. She was last seen wearing a maroon floral dress, a brown coat and a brown sun hat labelled ‘NSSA’.
The family has urged members of the public to be on the lookout for her and to report any information that may lead to her safe return.
