Elderly woman nabbed over mutoriro

AN elderly woman from Chitungwiza appeared in court on allegations of possessing $12 000 worth of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine commonly referred to as mutoriro or crystal meth in street lingo.

Cristine Nyahunzi (67) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje charged with possession of dangerous drugs and was remanded in custody to today for her bail application. 

She was arrested on Wednesday at around 7pm, when police were told that Nyahunzi was in possession of dangerous drugs at her home in Unit M.

Acting on the tip-off, police went to her house and found her standing by the doorstep. They introduced themselves and told her their purpose of visit. A body search was carried out and she was found with 10 sachets suspected to be mutoriro stashed in her underwear. A field test was carried out in her presence and it tested positive to the dangerous drug.
