Although the election dates are yet to be announced, the reality is that elections are going to be held this year. This is clear in the minds of all players in the political drama hence the upsurge in anti election noises. Those who unsure of ground work and fear the outcome of the elections are out despise the elections and promote that heaven and manna can only be enjoyed in this state of the inclusive government- elections are a reality that we should live with.
That is wishful thinking as the past has three or so years clearly shown that the GPA is hapless and untenable if Zimbabwe is to compete with other regional economies. We simply cannot continue on this trajectory
As such we should know the appropriate Party to confide with power and responsibility of the country’s governance. The three if not four years of the inclusive government of which both Zanu-PF and the MDC’s shared governance has proved to nation who are the mere talkers and real drivers of the nation’s interest.
The MDC formations in general and the MDC-T in particular are taking the nation for a ride with nothing to offer towards the development and welfare of the people of Zimbabwe. Politicians within their ranks have chosen to make our fatherland a caricature on the global scene. The party’s empty promises can no longer be sustained and that has indeed caused panic. Their noise disguised as national policies can longer be sustained and this spells election for the party MDC-T leader is in fix, the chickens have come home to roost. He failed the largest constituency, the civil servants, and surely the party will pay.
The MDC is now known of its rhetoric or to be more precise of its gimmick of transforming the economy as soon as they get power. Power they got, but what did they do anything? They did nothing but rather worsened the situation by delaying and sabotaging Zanu-PF developmental focused and people oriented indigenisation and empowerment policies. The Juice Policy which the nation was/is meant to believe will eradicate unemployment within the twinkling of an eye is just one among the garbage that the MDC has to offer. No results are yet to be realised from this juiceless Juice policy, whilst the Zanu-PF driven Indigenisation and Empowerment Policies are enjoying much success of developing the nation and enhancing people’s welfare.
From this it follows that Zanu-PF although not immune to challenges of its own is the party that if given the chance will not take the nation for granted. It is the party with genuine and realistic concerns of the Zimbabwean nation. It is only the party as things stands right now that truly know and appreciate the national interest of Zimbabweans which is rooted and firmly based in first Chimurenga war and the war of liberation. Those very same liberation struggles, that the MDC takes for granted and seeks to reverse with their ill-conceived relations with the West.
It is Zanu-PF and not MDC that gave land to the people, the very same land the MDC want us to believe it is an unresolved matter so they can put it again in the hands of the enemy. It is the revolutionary party that started the Community Share Ownership Trust, through its indigenisation and economic empowerment policies, that the MDC want us to believe is scaring away investors and there by sabotaging the policy. If there is any investor who does not appreciate policies that seeks to foster the welfare of Zimbabwean citizen then that investor is a bad one and illegitimate to invest in our country.
The MDC wanted the nation to believe that it was/is a democratic party but on the contrary has proved to be the most undemocratic party we have. If Mr Tsvangirai believes in democracy why did he fail to surrender power as was once required by the party’s constitution? He was corrupted by power to such an extent that the constitution had to be both altered and faltered. MDC politicians enjoys power to such an extent that one major tenet of democracy of letting the people choose their leaders through primary elections has to be eloped and shunned. Hence, the reason why Lord Acton said, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The MDC-T has been corrupted by power and nothing will stop this party to be absolutely corrupted by it if people mistakenly vote for it.
It was the lifespan of the Inclusive Government that provided the testing ground for both Zanu-PF and MDCs to see which party is able to govern and rule Zimbabwe. The fortunate part is that MDC’s have failed the test and election shall provide their final mark. It is now left to the electorate to wisely vote for Zanu-PF the party capable of moving this nation progressively ahead. The die is cast and the people are resolved. It is Zanu-PF that can drive towards the true development of Zimbabwe and its citizens. Come what may it is the duty of every Zimbabwean to grant legitimate power through the ballot to the rightful party and that party is non-other than Zanu-PF. Hence, if elections come-by, it is the duty of every Zimbabwean to vote for land, indigenisation and empowerment rather than for re-colonisation and reversal of our liberation struggles. Zimbabweans united we will overcome but divided we shall fall.
