adminEdward Kudiwa (44), Fredrick Gandari (42), Joseph Petulo (21), and Size Gama (23), appeared on separate records before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei.
He convicted them of stealing the power utility’s cables.
The complainant ZETDC is a subsidiary of Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority Holdings.
Nhundu, Mbiriyenyika, Kudiwa and Gandari appeared on a separate record from that of Petulo and Gama.
Nhundu and company were apprehended by John Habroad, a ZETDC employee, who was in the company of Innocent Katsvamutima as they were driving from One Commando Barracks in November last year.
The gang was arrested while loading 10 metres of copper cables into a pushcart but failed to give a satisfactory answer on the origins of the cables.
Petulo and Gama were apprehended by Zvikomborero Katiyo and Nelson Simani who are security guards at Shumba Tobacco farm in Harare.
The security guards had been instructed by the farm manager to evict the two from the place, when they found them peeling 24 metres of armoured copper cables.
When questioned about the origins of the cables, Petulo and Gama failed to give a convincing answer, leading to their arrest.
The two were taken to Hatfield police station, in Harare and led the police to the recovery another 24-metre cable that was hidden in a dam within the farm.
