ZPC KARIBA coach Godfrey Tamirepi seems to have overcome the pre-season storm that saw him being accused of corruption in player recruitment.
Tamirepi’s side have won four games on the bounce and the gaffer is licking his lips at the possibility of adding Dynamos to his list of victims.
“I’m happy with the form we are in, at the moment,” said Tamirepi.
“We are fresh from two away games, and two vital wins, so there was a lot of pressure on us going into this match against Yadah.
“That we managed to win this game too, gives us confidence heading into our next match against Dynamos.
“They might not be playing that well, at the moment, but Dynamos are a big team and not one to be underestimated.
“Hopefully, we can maintain our good start and win that game as well.”
Tamirepi was speaking soon after watching his charges dispatch Yadah, courtesy of two second half goals from striker David Temwanjira and winger Daniel Chakupe
After a very wasteful first half, ZPC Kariba took the lead courtesy of a spectacular bicycle kick from Temwanjira in the 50th minute. He capitalised on some poor defending by the visitors.
The lead seemed to wake Yadah up with coach Genesis Mangombe bolstering his attack by bringing in Leeroy Mavhunga and Isa Sadiki for Lennox Mucheto and Morris Musiyakuvi two minutes later.
And Sadiki was soon in the thick of things, lending an assist to Johanne Sibanda who levelled matters on 63 minutes.
However, the home team had the last laugh when Chakupe ghosted in from the right flank and outpaced the Yadah defence before firing home.
While Tamirepi is on cloud nine, his opposite number Mangombe, has already started to feel the heat as Yadah are yet to register a win this season.
“We matched them pound for pound for most of the game but they took their chances and we didn’t take ours,” said the Yadah gaffer.
“As coach, and after the winless start we have had to the 2019 season, there is pressure.
“All we can do now, is take the lessons from the game, go back to the drawing board and try rectify them in our next match.”
