ZIFA Southern Region Division 1 outfit Elephants FC also known as Indlovu Iyanyathela, a franchise of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), yesterday received a full kit donation from Moonlight Funeral Services at Headquarters 1 Brigade in Bulawayo.
The kit comprising 18 jerseys and shorts as well as 18 pairs of socks was handed over to the club by Moonlight Matabeleland regional manager, Chenai Nyamupfukudza.
Nyamupfukudza said their gesture was part of their initiative to promote growth of sport in the country.
“It gives us much pleasure to give them a helping hand, especially after they engaged us and informed us about their challenges. This is the first step in building a relationship with the Elephants and we’re here to stay. In the coming months, we’ll do more to assist the team,” said Nyamupfukudza.
She said they had been interacting with ZNA since 1998 but they were sponsoring sport for the first time.
“The coaches said their major challenge is lack of equipment and we’ve made an undertaking to assist in this regard,” said Nyamupfukudza.
Elephants’ assistant coach Philip Nyakufaringwa said he hoped the relationship will be nurtured for the mutual benefit of both parties.
“We’re very grateful to Moonlight for this donation and we’re really humbled by this act of kindness. The new kit will encourage the players to put more effort in their games,” said Nyakufaringwa.
