ELVIS “Bomber” Moyo is locked in and ready to bring the heat.
The hard-hitting Zimbabwean mixed martial artist returns to the ring on 11 September, when he faces off against Extreme Fighting Championships veteran Makunga “HHH” Djikasa of DRC at the World Sport Betting Arena in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.
Backed by Betterbrands, Moyo is looking to do more than just win, he wants to dominate.
“I’m not just fighting for victory; I’m fighting to make a name for myself in the boxing world,” he said.
“I’ve been training hard, and I’m ready to unleash my fury on my next opponent. I’m confident in my abilities, and I know I can take on anyone who’s willing to step into the ring with me.”
Last month, he turned up the pre-fight hype, even throwing shade at the officials.
“I invited the referee to bring a chair,” he said, “because he’ll just have to sit and watch.”
Moyo’s opponent brings a different skill set, one that includes reach, frequent kicks, and a slightly lighter frame. But Moyo sees these not as threats, but as openings.
“Training has all been good . . . training hard, more strength and conditioning, aggression too. He is slightly taller. I will come in weighing around 118kg. He kicks a lot, he is a little bit lazy and light for me. So it will be easy for me to walk through whatever he throws and break him down,” said Moyo.
He’s not tailoring his approach to suit his opponent either.
“I don’t work according to my opponents. That becomes their problem. Mine is to reload my bombs to 100 percent speed and power.”
The Bulawayo-born fighter believes no game plan survives contact.
“Everyone has a plan until I hit them. Then they have to fight back desperately to survive.
“Every opponent is different, but my approach remains the same,” Moyo explained.
“I focus on my own game plan, and I don’t let my opponents dictate how I fight.”
His training has been intense and focused. He’s put in work with elite coaches and shared rounds with world-class fighters.
“I have been doing great, trained at the home of Dricus du Plessis . . . sparred with him and four other different guys,” Moyo said from his Johannesburg base.
“I’m feeling stronger and more confident than ever,” he added.
“I’ve been sparring with some of the best fighters in the sport, and I know I’m ready for whatever my next opponent throws my way.”
As fight night approaches, Moyo’s energy is unmistakable. He’s not just chasing another win, he’s chasing respect, and another moment to show why he’s a force in the fight game.
With the backing of Betterbrands and a fired up fan base behind him, Moyo’s next bout could be the one that pushes his name deeper into the combat sports spotlight.
