EMA targets schools in environmental campaign

The Environmental Management Agency plans to target schools to educate students about the value of preserving the environment from a young age.

This, said EMA spokesman Amkela Sidange, would help ensure that preservation of the environment was sustainable, and involving youths in finding solutions.

She said young people are an important in the management and preservation of the environment and therefore should not be left out.

“The Environmental Schools programme is an opportunity to interface with the growing population, especially considering that learners in different schools are coming from communities so we want to instil in them best practices in environmental management which they can take and share back home with their parents,” she said. Sidange said by so doing, the students will carry on best practices in environmental management across in their adult lives.

“The programme is a window to interface with (the) growing population especially considering that these learners in different schools are coming from community(ies), so we want to build on them or inculcate best practices in environmental management,” she said. New Ziana.
