THE Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) has called on marketing professionals to continue utilising digital channels to market products and services to consumers.
As part of celebrations to commemorate the Marketing Week, MAZ carried out a number of activities and initiatives across the country throughout the week that included webinars and marketers’ socials.
In an interview, MAZ executive secretary, Mr Gillian Rusike said technology has become a good enabler of doing business particularly in marketing.

“Technology is a platform that has enabled marketers to make sure that they reach the target audience. Now we talk of artificial intelligence which is actually quite specific to the target audience that you want do not need to waste a lot of resources by using other means of marketing.

“With technology, digital channels of marketing have also become very cost effective and l must say the trajectory has grown quite tremendously because it allows almost every business across the world to do business with anyone,” he said.
“We encourage our local brands and companies to make sure that they consider even going beyond the borders of the country if they are going to embrace and use digital marketing.”
Mr Rusike said as MAZ they have been playing their part in making sure that digital marketing is learnt and they were excited with the progress to date.
He said they have ensured that quite a number of professionals in the country learn digital marketing, while the performance as witnessed from the companies and brands was yielding results.
“Digital marketing is the in-thing now and for those companies that are not embracing it you are just pronouncing your own death as a company because this is where business is going and this is where we are moving as the marketing sector.
“More professionals across the country have to make sure that they join the bandwagon and participate to make sure that marketing is really recognised and implemented for the benefit of not only the individual brands but even for the organisations and the corporate brands that they are representing,” he said.
During the week, in Bulawayo MAZ hosted a public lecture at the Bulawayo Polytechnic where they unpacked Grooming for Success as well as Personal Branding.
On Friday evening the celebration was brought to an end with a Bulawayo Marketers Meet Up Cocktail at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC).
