POLICE have arrested three suspects accused of allegedly using a brick to strike a complainant on the head and on her upper right eye before robbing her.
Brendon Goromonzi (22), Sibangani Kula (27) and Brain Mvere (21), all of Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of robbery.

They were all remanded in custody to April 28, awaiting a medical report.
Prosecuting, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete said the incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at around 9PM on a dusty road near the vegetable gardens at the councillor’s offices in Emganwini.

He said on that date, the accused persons hid themselves in tall grass. When Cathrine Dube was passing by, she saw three males hiding by the roadside.

The court heard that Goromonzi emerged from the edge of the road, attacked Dube and grabbed her by the jacket, at the same time striking her twice on the upper right eye and hitting her several times on the head with a brick.

When Goromonzi saw that the complainant was in pain, he took away her navy cap and handbag, which had US$22 and ZAR10, threw her belongings to Kula and Mvere, and they ran away.

The complainant ran towards nearby houses shouting for help, and a group of residents came to her rescue, where one of the residents managed to apprehend one accused person and escorted him to the police, said Mr Dzimbanhete.

Goromonzi was thoroughly interviewed by police detectives, which led him to implicate accused one and two, leading to their arrest.
Accused two (Kula) led the police to a nearby maize field where he allegedly dumped the empty handbag, but nothing was found, added Mr Dzimbanhete.
