A newly formed organisation, Imvelaphi yeZimbabwe, has emerged with a focus on cultural preservation, environmental protection and youth empowerment through practical skills training.

The initiative aims to revive Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage while equipping young people with hands-on skills such as crafting, construction and other forms of manual work that can support livelihoods.

Led by Ozias Ngwenya Macebo, the organisation says its vision is anchored on inclusivity, sustainability and cultural restoration.
“We want all 16 languages of our nation to be represented in this organisation, because culture is our humanity,” said Ngwenya Macebo.

Beyond cultural preservation, he said the organisation is also prioritising practical empowerment projects that can uplift communities across the country.
“If we receive funding, we’ll teach people across the country, handcrafts and skills, because no person or place should be left behind. We move forward with handwork, livestock for trade, and projects that will increase income and develop our nation,” said Ngwenya Macebo.

The organisation has already begun implementing environmental initiatives, including the planting of fruit trees, with plans to expand into indigenous tree restoration as part of its long-term environmental conservation strategy. It also places emphasis on traditional practices and respect for cultural and spiritual systems, encouraging communities to reconnect with heritage while promoting sustainable living.

Through its programmes, Imvelaphi yeZimbabwe hopes to reach communities across the country, particularly young people, by providing practical skills that can improve livelihoods while preserving Zimbabwe’s cultural identity.
