MHIZHA Bus Service lost US$4800 in bus ticket sales to two of their employees, a Harare court heard over the weekend.
Litan Mabauwa and Sandra Makuku failed to give a satisfactory explanation as to where the money had gone after an enquiry by their employer Ranford Makuku.
Makuku is the managing director of Mhizha Bus Service which operates on the South Africa – Zimbabwe route.
The court heard that the duo had the duty of receiving and receipting all funds from customers.
It is alleged that they connived to steal and received US$4800 which they converted to their own use.
When Makuku became aware of the missing funds, he invited the two to explain but they failed to give a satisfactory explanation, which prompted him to file a police report.
The two appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi over the weekend and were remanded in custody pending bail considerations.
