National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1)

In a presentation during the National Development Strategy (NDS1) outreach workshop held in Nkulumane suburb in Bulawayo on Friday, Empower Bank branch manager Mr Richard Ndebele said the partnership is going to assist youths on tax issues, how to do business proposals and grow their market.

He said the bank was also offering free financial literacy training to companies and youths.

The financial institution was set up as a micro-banking unit by the Government in 2018 specifically to support different youth initiatives in order to achieve economic empowerment and financial inclusion.

In May, Empower Bank said more than 7 000 youths had benefited from loans valued at more than $350 million.

Mr Ndebele said the country can succeed if it harnesses its demographic dividend, which is the youth and youths on their part should support the Government’s drive towards achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

He said the Bank was more than ready to financially support budding business to realise their full potential.
