Energy Minister to commission LED lighting project at Gwanda Hospital

MINISTER of Energy and Power Development July Moyo is today (Thursday) expected to commission the LED Lighting Retrofit Project at Gwanda Provincial Hospital, a development set to improve energy efficiency and enhance service delivery at the institution.

The upgraded lighting system, sponsored by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) at a cost of US$35 000, is expected to improve the quality of care offered at the provincial referral hospital.

The project will enable the hospital to transition to advanced LED lighting technology, significantly reducing energy consumption and operational costs.

Authorities say the savings generated through the reduced energy bill will allow the hospital to channel more resources towards critical patient care services.

The retrofit project forms part of a broader national initiative being rolled out by Zera across provincial hospitals as part of efforts to improve energy efficiency in public health institutions.

Zera is targeting to retrofit all provincial hospitals in the country within the next two years.
