BULAWAYO-based wheel spinner DJ Nospa made his mark at the 2026 Castle National Braai Fest, delivering a set that got the crowd singing and dancing.
The DJ has become one of the talking points among artistes who stood out at the highly subscribed event, held last Saturday at its traditional venue, Glamis Arena in Harare.
Playing DJ Maphorisa’s hit song Izolo, DJ Nospa had the crowd buzzing, with revellers singing along and responding enthusiastically to his set.
Reflecting on the experience, DJ Nospa described the event as a career highlight, praising the atmosphere and the connection he established with the crowd.
“In just three words, the Saturday event was energy, vibes and unforgettable. For me, it’s all about reading the room. I pay attention to the crowd’s energy, their reactions and the kind of music they respond to. I built the set gradually, blending different sounds and keeping the energy flowing. The goal is not just to play music, but to create an experience that keeps everyone connected to the moment.
“There’s always that moment when you look up and see everyone singing along, dancing and responding to every transition. That’s when you know you’ve connected with the crowd. For me, it’s not always about one particular track; it’s about the whole room moving as one,” he said.
DJ Nospa said preparation was essential to delivering a successful set, as DJs needed to know their music and understand how different tracks worked together.
“I might have a plan going into a set, but once I’m behind the decks, the crowd helps me decide where to take it. The magic happens when preparation meets the moment. My inspiration comes from different sounds, different cultures and the way music brings people together.
“I’m always exploring new music, studying different styles and looking for sounds that can create a unique experience on the dance floor. I like to stay versatile, keep evolving and never let my sound become predictable. I am listening to a lot of Asake and Nutty O right now,” he said.
