Engage in commercially viable projects, schools urged

Schools should engage in projects that are commercially viable and dump programmes that do not have lasting benefits, a senior Government official has said.

By adding commercial value to their projects, profits generated will go a long way in addressing some of the schools’ pressing issues in line with implementation of the new competence-based education curriculum.

Speaking during the commissioning and handing over of a classroom block constructed by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in Kadoma recently, provincial education director for Mashonaland West Mr Gabriel Mhumha said schools should expand their income base.

“Enlarge your territory of projects,” he said.

“We are no longer talking of income-generating projects as we have gone beyond that. We are talking of commercially viable projects.”
