GOVERNMENT must engage youths and support income-generating projects for the growth of the country’s economy. Junior Chamber International (JCI) world president Ms Chiara Milani said this yesterday during a courtesy call on Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment principal director Dr Thokozile Chitepo.
Ms Milani is in the country on a three-day visit to interact with young Zimbabweans and find ways of creating positive change for development of local communities.
“Zimbabwe has vast natural resources, which if tapped into with the involvement of the youths through sustainable means then Zimbabwe can fulfil its needs,” Ms Milani said.
She said the main purpose of her visit was to interact with JCI members and find ways to create positive change for the country.
“My goal is to meet members and of course the authorities and to try to support young person to create positive change from our country starting from their local communities because the mission of our organisation is to provide developmental opportunities that empower young people to create positive change,” Ms Milani said.
Dr Chitepo also highlighted that Government’s highest priority was employment creation and growing the economy.
She challenged JCI to take advantage of the established vocational centres throughout the country and partner them in life skills development.
