HARARE City Council director of water, Engineer Phakamile Mabhena Moyo has been appointed acting Town Clerk following the arrest of Engineer Hosiah Chisango.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) arrested Eng Chisango last night over the US$9,2 million street lights scandal that has already sucked in four other council officials.
The other four are Never Murerwa (62), Jabulani Mukomazi (44), Denford Zhungu (69) and Tawanda Mutenhabundo (29).
Speaking during the 1927th ordinary council meeting today, Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said Eng Moyo will be the acting Town Clerk pending the finalisation of Eng Chisango’s case, which is before the courts.
“The Town Clerk was arrested and we have asked Eng Mabhena to be acting Town Clerk,” said Mayor Mafume.
