English-Brown for Taunton Town

THE influx of new faces continues for the Peacocks as we welcome winger Calum English-Brown to Wordsworth Drive.

Calum becomes the club’s fourth recruit of the summer and arrives after making a big impact in the latter part of last season for Southern League Yate Town. He told us: “I’m very happy to have signed with Taunton and really looking forward to getting started and hopefully making an impact. Can’t wait to see what the season has in store. Up The Peacocks!”

The wide man, who was born in Scotland and holds an Irish passport, grew up in Zimbabwe and only arrived in England in December 2023, linking up with Yate where his technical trickery and knack of scoring screamers soon caught the eye. Calum previously represented Chicken Inn FC in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League as well as having spells with Harare City and Herentals FC in addition to a short stint with German club FC Eintracht Norderstedt 03.

Manager Richard Luffman is understandably thrilled to capture another exciting player as he continues building a new squad.

“Calum made his Yate debut against my Cribbs team last season and I remember thinking ‘where did they get this lad from’ as he was a right handful. He went on and scored goals aplenty in the second part of last season and I’m delighted he’s now my player. Calum will flourish further playing our style of football. A truly brilliant signing who will no doubt light up games of football for us.” — Taunton Town
